The Mahaa Sangha says that the Buddhist Clergy offers its continuous co-operation and blessings to the Government programme of building national unity and religious co-existence among the people in the country. 

Maha Sanga said so at a meeting held with President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

The main purspose of this meeting was to obtain the blessings of the Mahaa Sangha for the programme the Government was carrying out for building national unity and religious co-existence within the country.

Expressing his views on this occasion, the President pointed out that the Government was always committed to protect and nurture Buddhism.

On this occasion the President also said that it was the Government’s programme to protect the freedom of all while building religious co-existence among all religions.

On this occasion the Mahaa Sangha submitted ideas and proposals at length with regard to the programme that should be adopted for the progress of the Buddhist Dispensation.
