The Sri Lankan High Commission in Channai states that the Indian Center has launched a comprehensive investigation regarding the attack which was launched on the Bank of Ceylon Branch in Channai.

Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Chennai Prasad Kariyawasam expressing his views to our news team stated that several suspects have already been placed under arrest by provincial police in Chennai.

Meanwhile President Mahinda Rajapaksa left for India on a 2 ay official visit today and arrived at the Buddha Gaya international airport short while ago.

The President will visit Bodh Gaya in Bihar and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.

Sri Lanka High Commissioner to India Prasad Kariyawasam said that the President is expected to meet the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his visit to Bodh Gaya.

The High Commissioner has said that number of Sri Lankan pilgrims visiting Bodh Gaya has increased in recent times strengthening the friendly relations and religious reconciliation between India and Sri Lanka.

Several protests continue to be observed throughout Southern India voicing strong dissent against the visit of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

According to Indian media 80 individuals who had engaged in protests have been placed under arrest by Indian authorities at present.

Earlier yesterday 28 individuals who engaged in a protest before the Puduchcheri railway station were detained by Indian police.

In related developments attorney's attached to the Pudukot-tai courts are engaged in a protest denouncing the visit of President Mahinda Rajapaksa since yesterday while yet another protest organised by Secretary of the DMK party Stallin is being observed at Noon-gam-pakkam.

However According to the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Chennai Prasad Kariyawasam stringent security measures are underway ensuring the safety of visiting Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
