Queen Elizabeth II to visit Sri Lanka

Secretary General of the Commonwealth Kamalesh Sharma has stated that the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting will be held in Sri Lanka and that Queen Elizabeth the 2nd will also be taking part in it.

The secretary general had made this statement when he met with speaker Chamal Rajapakse today.

Deputy speaker Chandima Weerakkody had the following to say with regard to the meeting that took place.


Secretary General of the Commonwealth Kamalesh Sharma who arrived in the island on Sunday to conduct an assessment regarding CHOGM 2013 will conclude his official visit tomorrow.

He is scheduled to release a special statement regarding the meeting tomorrow prior to his departure from the island.

Curfew reimposed from 2.00pm will continue until further notice.
