President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that children are not there for teachers, but teachers are there for students.

 

The President said so while participating at the Education Ministry Progress Review meeting for implementing the 2013 to 2015 mid period development plan in accordance with the strategic development initiative of the Mahinda Chinthana Vision for the Future.

 

At this meeting attention was focused on implementing a long-term programme aimed at human resource development towards knowledge centred society in accordance with the Mahinda Chinthana Vision for the Future.

 

At this review meeting the President pointed out that our educational curriculum should be modified so as to be able to create persons fitting the country and prepared for employment opportunities.

 

The President drew his attention, at this meeting, on the harmful situation caused by Mother Tongue and History not being included in the international school curricula.

 

At this meeting President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that rules and regulations necessary for supervising and monitoring the international schools should be speedily formulated.

 

President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that persons responsible at the Examination Department and Education Ministry should take steps to issue the results of the National level examinations at the proper time.
