Thursday, 21 February 2013 - 8:09

The GMOA Matara branch has decided to put a limit on surgical and clinical services carried out at the Matara General Hospital.

A charge had been levelled against the Matara Hospital with regard to the amputation of a hand of Colombo Law Faculty student Achalaa Priyadarshani.

The GMOA took this decision after discussion held with regard to this yesterday.

The GMOA said that the aim of this action was the provision of quality and efficient  health service to patients.

GMOA Assistant Media spokesman Dr. Nalinda Herath told our news team that duties would be carried out only in accordance with Health Ministry circulars and subjecting of patients to surgery and clinics beyond the limit would be stopped.
