North Central Commissioner of Ayurveda suffers acid attack

North Central Province Commissioner of Indigenous Medicine who sustained an acid attack this morning has been transferred to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment.


According to the Anuradhapura police two individuals riding a motorbike had executed the attack at the official residence of the victim, situated before the Anuradhapura Hospital of Indigenous Medicine.


According to sources the attack has left the victims face scarred.


However the wife of the victim Champika Ranasinghe added that since several raids on illegal massage parlours had been sanctioned by her husband, that action would have caused the attack.


Police Media Spokesperson SSP Prishantha Jayakodi expressing his views to our news team stated that a special police team has been appointed to carryout investigations in this regard.
