Mahinda Samarasingha to head Geneva delegation

Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe has been appointed to lead the Sri Lankan delegation being sent to the United Nation Human Rights Commission Session scheduled to be held in Geneva.

The ministry of plantations issued a statement stating that President Mahinda Rajapakse had made the appointment last night.

The UNHRC session is scheduled to begin on the 25th of this month and will end on the 22nd of March.

Reports state that the United States will be presenting another proposal against Sri Lanka at Geneva and additionally the UN Human Rights Commissioner Navaneethan Pillay is also scheduled to present a report regarding Sri Lanka.

Minister Samarasinghe is scheduled to address the session at 11.50am local time, which is 4.20pm Sri Lankan time.
