The United National Party charges that the law which governs the detention of a suspect under police custody for 48 hours is being administered erratically based on the suspect.

UNP Media Spokesperson MP Gayantha Karunathilleke addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today charged that such a situation prevailed due to the politicization of the police force, a trend which had been induced due to the non-enactment of the police commission.
