DMK president M. Karunanidhi criticized External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid for his observations on the resolution to be moved in the United Nations Human Rights Council against Sri Lanka and accused him of siding with the adversary.
A few days ago, Khurshid told reporters that he had asked the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister to engage with the United States and keep that country informed of the steps it might have taken to improve human rights so as to arrive at a draft acceptable to all.
Meanwhile the JVP states that protests which were observed profusely in the country previously when a US sponsored resolution was adopted against the island during the 19th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council Session, are not witnessed today.
The JVP questions the government as to whether it has reached an agreement with the relevant parties.

Meanwhile our news team questioned Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe of the Jathika Hela Urumaya inquiring of him the stance of his party with regards to this year’s US sponsored draft resolution which has been tabled in Geneva.
The JHU was highly vocal regarding the US sponsored resolution which was submitted before the UNHRC during its 19th session.
