Allegations about politicization against BASL.

The Independent Bar Association charges that the Bar Association of Sri Lanka has become politicized.

Participating at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday Independent Bar Association assistant secretary Bandula Vellaala said this was evident from the invitees to the recent ceremony to officially welcome the new BASL chairman.


The ceremony to officially welcome the  new BASL chairman senior lawyer Upul Jayasuriya was held in Colombo on 30th last month.

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake and MP Karu Jayasuriya too participated in the occasion.

However our news team inquired from BASL chairman Upul Jayasuriya about Independent Bar Association’s charge.
