Foreign Employment Bureau strengthens relations with Korea

The Foreign Employment Bureau states that it is maintaining constant ties with the Korean embassy with regard to the safety of Sri Lankan workers in Korea following the tense situation that is prevalent in the Korean Peninsula.

The bureau stated that is has a special program in place to notify the Foreign Employment Bureau in case of an emergency.

However, a senior spokesperson of the Foreign Employment Bureau speaking to our news team stated that the South Korean government has not yet stated that Sri Lankan workers are at risk.

Upon inquiry by our news team from the ministry of external affairs, a senior spokeswoman of the ministry stated that the ministry of external affairs is constantly monitoring the situation in North Korea.

She further stated that the ministry is obtaining information regarding this from the Sri Lankan embassy in South Korea and that the ministry is also exchanging information regarding Sri Lankan workers in the Korean Peninsula.
