25% Fertilizer cut recommended for paddy cultivation

The Fertilizer Recommendation Committee of the Department of Agriculture has recommended a 25% fertilizer cut on supplies currently being dispensed to farmers.


Chairman of the committee Dr. D.W. Wickremesinghe expressing his views to our news team noted that the recommendations of the committee would be submitted for the perusal of the Director General of Agriculture in future.


According to Dr. Wickremesinghe this recommendation has been partly based taking into consideration the price of fertilizer in the world market as well prevalent health concerns.
