Tension over garbage mound in Kolonnawa

A tense situation erupted adjacent to the Kolonnawa-Meethotamulla, Pothuvilkumbara garbage mound this morning when area residents protested the dumping of garbage in the area.


Tippers conveying garbage to the location were also prohibited from entering the location

by indignant area residents.


According to Committee Member of the People’s Movement against the Kolonnawa Garbage Mound Keerthirathna Perera a heated up situation had been witnessed between the police and members of the public.
