The auspicious time for the anointing of oil for the New Year was at 6.41 a.m today attired in white.


The head should be anointed with a mixture of wood apple leaves facing the East and standing on imbul leaves under a canopy of wood apple leaves.


The auspicious time to leave for work for essential duties was at 6.53 a.m today, dressed in white and facing the East after partaking milk rice with a food mixed with milk.


State ceremony of anointing of oil was held under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapakse at the Katharagama -  Kiri- vehera temple premises.
