Petroleum Resource Act of 2003 to be annulled

The government has decided to negate the currently existing Petroleum Resources Act number 26 of 2003 through a proposed new bill for which Cabinet approval has been granted.


Accordingly a proposed singular institution which would be commissioned under the new Act would be responsible for handling petroleum related issues.


Cabinet Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella speaking during today’s cabinet decision media briefing expressed the following views.
