The National Freedom Front and the leftist parties that are representing the government have decided to celebrate the May Day separately.

Thus according to the leader of the NFF, Minister Wimal Weerawansa, the NFF will commemorate the May Day at the P. D. Sirisena grounds in Maligawatta – Colombo.

Speaking at a press conference held today, Minister Weerawansa stated that the May Day celebration will be held in protest of the government’s attempt to hold the Northern Provincial Council Elections.

Meanwhile, the main leftist parties of the government have scheduled a separate May Day celebration and a foot procession.

Thus the May Day celebrations of the leftist parties will be held at the Henry Pedris Grounds in Colombo.

The leader of the Sama Samaja Party Thissa Witharana stated that the May Day Celebrations will be held in protest against the Right Wing policies of the government.
