Health Ministry implementing recommendations on Castle Street Hospital

The Ministry of Health stated that it has started to implement the recommendations of the Special Committee which was appointed to probe the death of two pregnant women at the Intensive Care Unit of the Castle Street Hospital for Women.


The Committee found that the cause of death of the two patients was ‘Influenza A’ virus.


During a seminar held today at the Bureau of Health Education, Director General of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala stated that the ICU of the Castle Street Hospital for Women will be re-tested after it is cleaned.




Meanwhile Director of the Castle Street Hospital for Women Dr. W.K. Wickramasinghe said that another 9 patients are quarantined and being treated for ‘Influenza A’ virus.
