Hollywood star Pamela Anderson has advocated for the release of Mali, a Sri Lankan elephant being held at a zoo in the Philippines.

 

Anderson’s request to the Philippine President Benigno Aquino has been intimated via a letter, in which she requests of him to have the beast released to a sanctuary.

 

Mali the elephant was presented to the Manila National Zoo in 1980.

 

Several wild life conservation organized have voiced similar concerns on behalf of Mali’s release.

 

When contacted Minister of Wild Life Vijith Vijayamuni Soyza noted that the matter was being looked into.
