The no-confidence motion against Foreign Employment Promotion Minister Dilan Perera will be taken up for debate in parliament tomorrow.
UNP MP Ajith P Perera submitted the no-confidence motion against Minister Dilan Perera charging that the minister failed to save the life of Sri Lankan house maid Rizana Nafeek who was beheaded in Saudi Arabia.
Describing the move against Minister Dilan Perera, UNP MP Ajith Perera had this to say.
The UNP MP said that Opposition parties including the Democratic National Alliance and the Tamil National Alliance have agreed to vote for.
Parliament will hold a vote of no-confidence in the evening.
Meanwhile, a house maid who was flown home after a surgery in Saudi Arabia died suddenly while receiving treatment at Negombo hospital.
The 41-year-old victim Priyani Dhammika, a resident of Randombe in Ambalangoda had gone overseas for work 7 months ago.
Priyani was admitted to Negombo hospital on her arrival on April 26, and the doctors found that a surgery had been done on Priyani during her stay overseas.
The Victim’s husband, a daily labourer, told our news team that his wife had gone abroad for work several times in the past as well.
He said that his wife’s death is suspicious and asked a full investigation into Priyani’s mysterious death.
When our news team contacted the Foreign Employment Bureau, its Deputy General Manager Mangala Randeniya said that the Bureau would do an investigation on the death of Priyani Dhammika.
