The United States says that while it recognises the progress made on some issues in Sri Lanka, more needs to be done on reconciliation and accountability.

The US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Michele J. Sisson, in a Twitter interview today, said that the US and the international community recognize progress in infrastructure, demining and on the IDP issue in Sri Lanka.

She also said that implementing the recommendations of the Lessons Learned and Reconciliation is positive, but yet the government was looking at addressing only selective recommendations based on the commitment it gave at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

The Ambassador also noted that the government should engage with civil society in a more consultative manner.
