Risk+for+fishing+in+the+sea+in+the+vicinity+of+Hambanthota+continues%3B+the+number+of+families+affected+decreases+to+less+than+9000.

Meteorology Department advised Navy personnel and the public not to engage in naval and fishing activities in seas 300 kilometres from

Hambantota due to a low pressure 800 kilometres away from the area.

 

The sources also requested the public including fisher folk to be vigilant as there could be heavy rain, lightning and strong winds.

The Disaster Management Centre says that the number of persons affected by the inclement weather that had prevailed is fast decreasing.

 

Disaster Management Deputy Director Pradeep Kodipillai said that the number of distressed families had reduced to 9148.
