The National Transport Commission states that the statements by the Bus Operators Associations to support the proposed token strike by trade unions on electricity tariff hike would not affect the routine transport service in the island.

 

Secretary of the All Ceylon Federation of Lanka Private Bus Association Anjana Priyanjith said that his union would launch an all island bus strike to show solidarity to joint trade unions which has organised a token strike on May 21.

President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijeratne said that his association has not taken a final decision yet.

Addressing a media conference held in Colombo this evening, President of the National Transport Commission Roshan Gunawardana challenged Private Bus Associations to go on strike.
