Petroleum Resources Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa says that the activities of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will have to be put on hold if crude oil was not received even by 16th.

The Minister said so in response to a query made with regard to the rumour that is spreading saying that the activities of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will be compelled to be on a stand still.

Petroleum Trade Unions point out that this situation has cropped up due to the inability of the authorities to import crude oil properly.

These trade unions said also that therefore by now the activities of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery had been restricted.

Speaking to our news team Lanka Petroleum General Employees’ Union Chairman Asoka Ranwala said that the Government should accept the responsibility for this.
