The Health Ministry says that a certificate obtained after tests carried out by an accepted laboratory is a must to ensure that milk powder imported to the country does not contain the chemical Die-saino-mayid .

The Health Ministry Food Advisory Committee said that obtaining samples would also be done after importing and releasing milk powder to the market.

Due to the problematic situation that has cropped up with regard to imported milk powder varieties, the Health Ministry Food Consultancy Committee had met under the chairmanship of Health Services Director General Dr. Paalitha Maheepaala.

Dr. Paalitha Maheepaala told our news team that this decision was taken at this meeting.

Health Services Director General Dr. Paalitha Maheepaala said that steps had also been taken to appoint a sub-committee to carry out further investigation with regard to Die-saina-mayid contained in milk powder.
