Several views were expressed during several media briefing today with regards to the planned general strike which is set to take effect on the 21st of this month.
Secretary of the Government Nursing Officers Association Gamini Kumarasinghe speaking during a media briefing which was held today noted that various issues were being experienced at hospitals due to the hike in electricity tariffs.
However the government against this backdrop states that the aim of increasing electricity tariff was not to inconvienience the public.

General Secretary of Ceylon Electricity Boards Joint Trade Union Alliance Ranjan Jayalal meanwhile hurled an accusation at the government during a media briefing which was held today.
General Secretary of the Ceylon teachers Union Mahinda Jayasinghe meanwhile blamed the government of having organized a ‘seela viyapara’ at schools the day after tomorrow.
According to Jayasinghe this attempt by the government is to disrupt Tuesday’s planned general strike.
