The Health Ministry says that the World Health Organisation has informed that milk powder imported to the country does not contain the chemical Dicyna-mide.

In the recent past there was a rumour that the milk powder imported to this country contained Dicyna-mide harmful to the human body.

The Health Ministry drawing its attention to this made it obligatory that when importing milk powder a certificate was produced ensuring that the milk powder did not contain the chemical concerned.

In addition to this the Health Ministry Food and Research Unit had inquired from the WHO the amounts of the relevant chemical alleged to be contained in the imported milk powder.

In response to this query the WHO has replied that the said imported milk powders did not contain the chemical Dicyana-mide harmful to human body.

The WHO has further informed that there need not be any baseless fear in the consumption of the said milk powder.
