JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti said that the members of the Committee of Public Petitions of Parliament have not decided yet whether they appear before the Supreme Court again on the new summons.
JVP MP appeared before the court when summons were served on the members of Committee on Selections in connection with the impeachment against the former Chief Justice.
The Committee of Public Petitions of Parliament is a committee appointed for special tasks by the government.
It was such a special committee that was appointed for the impeachment.
The members in the Committee of Public Petitions of Parliament are comprised of members from all parties in the parliament and the JVP representative is MP Sunil Handuneththi.
The chairman of the working committee, Deputy Minister Lalith Dissanayaka raised a question regarding privileges yesterday stating that the members of the working committee have been summoned to appear before court, after a case had been filed challenging recommendations given by the committee.
