The kingdom of Sigiriya built by King Kashyapa is considered part of our national pride as it epitomises the creative skills of our forefathers.
However it is disappointing to note that such a place with national pride of Sri Lanka has been used by a Japanese liquor company to promote a variety of alcohol.
This particular company which has used Sigiriya as a backdrop of a commercial to display liquor has uploaded this advertisement on the Internet.
Cultural Affairs Minister T.B.Ekanayake said that approval from the Cultural Triangle has not been taken beforehand to produce this controversial advertisement or to upload it to the Internet.
The Minister said that action will be taken to sue the particular Japanese company soon for the errant act.
Meanwhile Ravana Balaya stated that it will organise protest campaigns against the advertising company after Vesak if the authorities fail to stop the Internet commercial.
Ravana Balaya General Secretary Venerable Iththe kande Saddhastissa Thera had this to say.
