CID recorded a statement from the local representative of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Sagarika Delgoda today.

 

Police Media Spokesman office said that the CID will ascertain whether the Friedrich Naumann Foundation has acted within Sri Lanka beyond its given legal mandate.

 

Several media reports stated recently that the Friedrich Naumann Foundation has conducted a workshop for a group of participants including several UNP MPs.

 

Addressing the UNP media briefing held in Colombo today MP Hareen Fernando had this to say.

 

 

Police Media Spokesman’s office also stated that there is no attempt to arrest UNP MPs or no necessity to do so while the investigations to the Foundation are carried on.

 

Meanwhile Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe made a statement in parliament yesterday about the relationship between Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the UNP.

 

 

A former President of Liberal Party of Germany Friedrich Naumann Stiftung founded the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in 1958 in order to promote liberal politics and assist democratic political activities.

 

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation is operatinal in Sri Lanka as a Non Governmental Organisation since 1974.
