United Nation’s media reports quoted yesterday Sri Lankan Government representatives as saying the UN Human Rights Council that 295 thousand 873 persons lived in displaced camps were resettled after the humanitarian operations.
Meanwhile 767 thousand 230 persons belonging to 227 thousand 044 families who fled their homes during the war were resettled in the North and East.
The representatives told the UN council that the resettlement of displaced persons lived in Manik farm in Vavuniya was a positive step towards achieving lasting peace in the country.
They said that there are 96 square kilo metres still left with mines, and that area should be demined in order to resettle the last refugee in the North.
