The Chairman of the Ambilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha who has been charged with assaulting three police officers remains at large, with almost a week elapse since the incident transpired.

 

Three police officers were arrested in the Ambilipitiya-Dandu-hathakma area on the 27th of last month by 3 individuals including the Chairman of the Ambilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha.

 

The 3 police officers who had been attached to the Panamure police had inspected a motor bicycle which had been transporting three individuals devoid of any license.

 

When the police officers had subsequently traveled to the Dandu-hathakma area subsequently had been assaulted & berated by the Chairman of the Ambilipitiya pradeshiya Sabha who had arrived in a vehicle.

Moreover Parliamentarian Vidura Wickramanayeke who addressed a gathering which was held in Kaluthara recently had this take to share on the matter.

 

 

Expressing his views former JVP MP Bimal Rathnayeke meanwhile had this to say.

 

 

When inquired in this regard, Acting Police Spokesperson as well as SSP in charge of the Rathnapura division Prishantha Jayakodi stated that the accused Chairman of the Ambilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha M.K. Amila had fled the area subsequent to the incident.
