Chairman of the Embilipitya Pradeshiya Sabha, M. K. Amila who was evading the police for more than 7 days following an assault on two police officers, turned himself in at the Embilipitya Magistrate’s Court today through president’s counsel Raseeq Farook.

 

The PS chairman had assaulted the two police officers, affiliated to the Panamure Police station on the 27th of May.

 

However incidents of assault on policemen by politicians and assaults by police on the public are on the increase.

 

Our news team contacted a member of the Sri Lankan Human Rights Commission Dr. Prathibha Mahanamaheva to comment on how Human Rights Commission could intervene in reducing these incidents.
