The Colombo – Vavuniya train, stopped by residents of Hiriyala demanding the restoration of the Kurunegala – Hiriyala road, has been brought to the Ganewatta station, the station closest to Colombo.

Our regional correspondent stated that the semi luxury train traveling to Vavuniya had been stationary for approximately 3 hours from 9am today.

It is reported that more than 2000 individuals joined the protest that followed the stopping of the train.

Police teams were deployed to control the situation.
