Several religious and national organizations which assembled in Colombo in accordance with JHU’s call have decided to carry out several activities against the provincial council system.
JHU national organizer Nishaantha Sri Varnasinghe said that consensus was reached yesterday on five points.
Removing land and police powers from 13th amendment is also included among them.
Several organizations including Bodu Bala Senaa, Sinhala Raavaya, Sri Lanka Buddhist Federation, Sinhala Veera Vidaana, Chinthana Par-shadaya, All Island Three-wheeler Drivers’ Union, Patriotic Bhikkhu Front participated in the discussion.
An organization called ‘Anti-Provincial Council National Collective’ was also formed yesterday.
JHU national organizer Nishaantha Sri Varnasinghe said that while the newly formed collective would issue a joint statement on Monday, it had been decided to hold several public rallies island-wide.
Meanwhile the Government says that an election will be definitely held in the north.
Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said so while participating yesterday at the media briefing on cabinet decisions.
