A program to check whether there are mosquito breeding grounds in every household premises will start tomorrow with the participation of the three Armed Forces and the Police.

Officials of the Health and the Defense Ministries decided yesterday to expand the program islandwide at a meeting held in this regard.

Public Health Inspectors organized mosquito eliminating projects throughout the country in the last few months especially in Colombo as the city is most vulnerable to dengue threat,

During these programs, the officials have identified several places where mosquito breeding grounds are existed in the Colombo city limits including in certain places of the surroundings of the Kalubovila hospital.

Entomologists stated that the intermittent rain in the South West monsoon and the comparatively high temperature this year caused the increase of mosquito breeding.

Secretary of the Health Services Assistant Entomologists Association Najith Sumanasena had this to say.

He said that a viral flu is also spreading these days, and special attempt should be taken to diagnose dengue patients.
