A delegation of Ceylon Workers Congress led by its leader Muttu Sivalingham and Secretary Arumugam Thondaman met leader of the Congress Party of India Sonia Gandhi this morning.
CWC leader Sivalingham told our news team that top on agenda is to discuss the changes to the 13th Amendment and its benefits expected to be passed on to the Tamils with an Indian Origin.
Deputy Minister Muttu Sivalingham elaborated his views further to our news team.
Meanwhile Sri Lanka Muslim Congress General Secretary Hassan Ali told our news team that they protest over the government move to change 2 clauses of the 13th Amendment.
He said the government had not educated his party on this move beforehand.
He also said that his party leader Rauff Hakeem educated the members of the Cabinet on his party stance when he participated in the Cabinet meeting yesterday.
Meanwhile Head of Communication of the UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera said at a press briefing held in Colombo this morning that the 18th Amendment should be annulled and the 17th Amendment should be re-empowered instead before holding an election in the North.
