The fishermen who were affected due to the rainstorm requested the authorities to grant them some relief as they failed to go to sea in the past few days.

 

53 fishermen died and 12 others are still missing after they caught in a rainstorm last Saturday.

 

Meanwhile 3 fishermen who ventured to sea from Beruwala and survived the rainstorm  for 5 days returned today.

 

The 3 fishermen residents of Payagala explained their ordeal to our news team.

 

 

Meanwhile the relatives of the fishermen who perished in sea complained that they have not been provided any relief by the Ministry of Fisheries or any other government institution.

 

 

When contacted the Deputy Minister of Fisheries Sarath Gunaratne to comment on the claim by the relatives of the affected fishermen, the Deputy Minster had this to say.
