The Sri Lanka Freedom Party has informed North Western PC member Ananda Sarath Kumara who was accused of forcing a female teacher to kneel down to resign from the North Western Provincial Council.
SLFP Puttalam District Leader Minister Milroy Fernando told our news team that the party has also informed the accused PC member to send his apology to the victim.
He also said the party disciplinary committee will decide soon whether the accused will be given the party ticket to contest future PC elections.
Meanwhile issuing a communiqué, Sri Lanka Freedom Party condemned the PC member’s ruthless act and promised to take every possible action against the culprit who brought immense physical and mental agony to a teacher.
The teacher who was humiliated by the PC member H.M. Priyani Susila told our news team that the President who called her over the phone today said that he would take all possible actions against the accused PC member.
Meanwhile Puttalam District Judge Ranga Dissanayake remanded the accused till June 27th.
Several educational trade unions, teacher unions and students staged protests against the PC member’s ruthless act today, and the incident has taken centre stage in the political platform as well.
