The National Electricity Consumers’ Movement charges that electricity tariff has increased due to CEB’s inefficiency and mismanagement.

NECM secretary Bandula Jayasekera says that it is appropriate to use a transparent formula in deciding the price of petrol and diesel.

He points out that up to now the CEB had so far not used a formula for deciding the price of furnace oil and diesel.

Meanwhile, Power and Energy Minister ordered the authorities responsible for the Kukule Ganga hydro power plant, to submit an immediate report on the dismantling of a turbine of the plant.

The two turbines collectively contribute 75 megawatts to the national grid daily.
