A senior SLFP spokesman told our news team that a final decision has not yet been made about the 13th amendment to the constitution.

The SLFP parliamentary group met at Temple Trees yesterday with President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the chair for discussing about this.

The senior spokesman said further that it was decided that the SLFP would take a decision on the 13th amendment to the constitution in the near future and that the MPs were forbidden to express views to media till then.

The spokesman said that the SLFP parliamentary group approved this.

Meanwhile a media briefing was held recently under the patronage of Minister Rajitha Senaratne of the SLFP and several Left Political party leaders including Reginald Cooray.

While they expressed their views on the 13th amendment to the constitution at that media briefing, their stand was that no change should be made in the 13th amendment.

However Minister Rajitha Senaratne and Minister Reginald Cooray who had participated in the said media briefing expressed various views even at the discussion held with the President at the chair.

However the senior SLFP spokesman told our news team further that they agreed not to make statements to the media till a decision was made as a party with regard to the 13th amendment.
