Signs portend bus fares may be increased by 10%; Final decision postponed

The discussions held between the Private Transport Minister and Bus Operators Associations on the bus fare revision ended today on an indefinite note.

 

Representatives from Lanka Private Bus Owners Association, Federation of All Ceylon Bus Companies and Inter Provinces Bus Owners Association participated in the discussion held at the Private Transport Ministry.

 

Private Transport Minister C.B. Rathnayake told our news team that a decision on the bus fare revision will be taken after submitting the bus owners’ proposals to the Finance Ministry.

 

 

Meanwhile Secretary of the Federation of All Ceylon Bus Companies Anjana Priyanjith told our news team that the bus fare will be increased by at nearly 10 percent with effect from 1st of next month.

 

 

President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijerathna also said that a bus fare revision will come to effect from the first week of next month.
