Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa is due to engage in a tour of India which will commence on the 04th of July as a special representative of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
During his 3 day visit Minister Basil Rajapaksa is due inform Indian Leaders regarding the political situation of the country.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa’s tour of the India comes at a juncture when Indian Premier Dr. Manmohan Singh has opposed revisions to the 13th amendment.
When Tamil National Alliance delegates met Indian political leaders two weeks ago in New Delhi objections were expressed regarding the proposed amendments which the government of Sri Lanka hopes to effect on the 13th amendment to the constitution.
As a result of the Indo-Lanka Accord which was signed in 1987, the provincial council system was established under the 13th amendment to the constitution.
During his visit Minister Basil Rajapaksa is due to meet with Indian Minister of External Affairs Salman Kurshid & National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon.
Meanwhile National Advisor on Security to India Shiv Shankar Menon is due to arrive in Sri Lanka on the 07th of July in a bid to discuss matters pertaining to bi-lateral corporation & issues of zonal interest.
Moreover according to Indian Media Menon’s visit is expected to highlight issues pertaining to the 13th amendment to the constitution.
