Central Provincial Council Opposition Councilors yesterday filed a case petitioning that a writ order be issued invalidating the Central Provincial Council’s  passing of the two alterations the Government introduced to the 13th Amendment to the constitution.

That was at the Kandy Provincial High Court.

The Central Province Chief Minister, Provincial Governor and Provincial Vice Chairman and Provincial Secretary have been named as RESPONDENTS in the case.

Thirteen Opposition Councilors led by the UNP had signed the petition.

Speaking to media after filing the case UNP Central Provincial Councilor Sanjeeva Kaviratne said that this case was filed as these alterations had been passed by violating provincial council powers.
