The 2nd stage of Sri Lanka’s biggest cycling race, Tour De Hiru, organized jointly by Hiru TV and Hiru FM to coincide with the 15th Anniversary of Hiru FM begins today.
The first stage of the race was successfully concluded yesterday in Balangoda.
More than 150 cyclists representing the Tri Forces, Police, Dehiwala – Mount Lavinia Municipal Council, the German Friendship Cycling club and many more prominent sports clubs are taking part in this year’s edition of Tour De Hiru.
The first stage of the race began near the Air Force Headquarters in Colombo with the starting signal given by Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva and covered 137 kilometers.
The first stage was won by Sudeera Nilanga who represented Sri Lanka Police.
The 2nd stage of Tour De Hiru is scheduled to begin in Balangoda this morning and will pass through the towns of Pemadulla, Rathnapura, Eheliyagoda, Awissawella, Hanwella, Kaduwela, Yakkala, Nittambuwa and Aththanagalla covering a total distance of 160.7 kilometers and will conclude at the town of Kirindiwela.
