The Public Performance Board has decided to scrutinize the local entry films submitted to various film festivals in the future.

Public Performance Board President Gamini Sumanasekera said that the current board has no legal provisions to sift through such films.

The Administrative Board decided to suspend the French Film festival to be screened at the BMICH claiming that one of its entries ‘Flying Fish’ is enclosed with scenes that are detrimental to local security forces.

Sumanasekera told our news team that the Public Performance Board has not given permission to the French Embassy for a public screening of this film.

He also said that the entries submitted to film festivals are not currently scrutinized by the Pubic Performance Board.

When our news team question Gamini Sumanasekera further on this matter, he had this to say.

However the Defence Ministry has already initiated a special investigation on the screening of this controversial film “Flying Fish”.

Director General of the Media Center for National Security Lakshman Hulugalle explained our news team about the aim of the investigation.
