Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Sri Lanka V. Mahalingham said that India did not influence in selecting the TNA candidate for the forthcoming Provincial Council election in the North.

  

Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Sri Lanka V. Mahalingham and TNA General Secretary MP Mavai Senadirajah met at the Indian Deputy High Commission office in Jaffna today.

 

However the outcome of the discussion that they had during this meeting is not announced to media yet.

 

When our news team asked to comment about the part that India expects to play on the Northern Provincial Council election, the Indian Deputy High Commissioner rejected the allegations against India that it involved in naming the TNA candidate.

 

 

Meanwhile the Court of Appeal decided to consider a petition which had requested the postponement of the Northern Provincial Council election.

 

The petition based on 5 factors and it was filed by General Secretary of the National Sinhala Movement Jayantha Liyanage.

 

After the petition was considered before Appeal Court Judge Sri Skandharajah, Attorney-at-law Herath Bandara who appeared for the petitioner expressed his views to our news team.
