Our correspondent reported that the patients faced dire inconveniences due to the token strike launched by government doctors of the Central Province in protest of its Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa.

Government Medial Officers Association stated that the doctors of General Hospitals including Nuwara Eliya General Hospital, District hospitals and Central Dispensaries joined the strike today.

GMOA central committee member Dr. Naleen Herath told our news team that the strike was launched after Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa scolded some doctors during a dengue elimination campaign held in Nuwara Eliya.

However he said that the strike ended this evening.

When our news team contacted Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, he rejected the allegations made against him by doctors.
