The deadline to accept nominations for the elections of the North, North Western and Central Provincial Councils will expire at 12 noon on the 1st of August.
Main political parties began handing over nominations today, and the TNA handed over its nomination lists for the districts of Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar, Vavuniya and Mulativu today.
After handing over nomination papers to the Jaffna Divisional Secretariat, Northern Provincial TNA Chief Ministerial Candidate former Supreme Court Judge C.V. Wigneswaran expressed his views to the media.
Meanwhile the UNP finalized their nomination papers today.
UNP General Secretary MP Tissa Attanayake stated that the completed nominations will be handed over for the 3 PCs during the next 3 days.
JVP Propaganda Secretary and MP Wijitha Herath said that his party will also finalize the nomination papers tomorrow and will be handed over on the 31st of July and 1st of August.
UPFA spokesman stated that the nomination list of the party candidates were processed today too and the finalized papers will be handed over on the 1st of August.
Meanwhile, 3 main political parties and 2 independent groups have so far handed over nominations since the acceptance of nominations for the 3 Provincial Council elections began on the 25th of this month.
It is reported that there are 29 independent groups have deposited bonds so far for the 3 PC elections.
