9 suspects of the popular vocalist duo Rukantha and Chandraleka harassment case who found guilty were sentenced to 4 and half years rigorous imprisonment by Panadura High Court Judge Kusala Sarojani Weerawardana today.
The court sentenced the 5th suspect to 4 and half years light imprisonment after considering his full disabled physical condition.
The High Court Judge also fined all 10 respondents for 10 thousand rupees each and ordered each of them to pay the couple 200 thousand rupees as compensation.
The 7th suspect in the case was cleared of all charges and acquitted.
The suspects had been charged for the forced enter the Mattegoda house of Rukantha and Chandraleka and used arms to harass them on the 20th of January in 2000.
