A Sri Lankan visa applicant has been arrested today for using deception and a false identity to apply for a UK visa.
He was referred by UK Visas and Immigration to the Fraud Investigation Bureau police in Colombo.
Checks revealed that the applicant had made four previous applications in a different identity and has now applied using a different name and birth details in which he had fraudulently obtained a Sri Lankan passport and other supporting documents.
The latest visa application has been refused and the arrested applicant will have a 10 year ban on travel to the UK.
In addition he now faces prosecution for his actions.
